Six years ago, I arrived in Sydney to pursue my studies at the University of Sydney. During those years, I lived in many places—a studio in Darling Harbour, a shared house in Strathfield with classmates, an apartment in Rhodes, and a unit in Macquarie. As someone who embraces minimalism, I always kept my living spaces clean and organized. Yet something was missing—the softness that truly makes a house feel like home.
After graduation, I naturally followed my degree path and became a programmer. My life was simple, structured, and efficient—just as I had designed it to be. I thought this orderly existence would continue indefinitely.
Then one evening, as I returned home from work, my father called with news: he had reached retirement age. In that moment, memories of my roots came flooding back—I am a child from a family of tailors.
My family's textile business began with my grandfather over fifty years ago. For three generations, we've specialized in fabric processing and sales, focusing primarily on curtains, along with rugs, blankets, and upholstery fabrics. This heritage of craftsmanship and texture had always been part of who I am, even as I pursued a different path.
That phone call was a turning point. I realized my highly structured, engineered life needed something more—the softness and warmth I had grown up with but had left behind.
I began searching for curtains across Sydney, visiting store after store. To my surprise, most shops only sold blinds. Those that carried curtains offered only a limited selection of basic colors—nothing like the richly textured, diverse, colorful, and uniquely patterned curtains I remembered from my childhood. The variety, the tactile richness, the character—it was all missing.
That's when I decided to take over my family's textile business and bring it to Australia and New Zealand. I wanted to share the quality curtains I grew up with and help others add that missing softness to their homes—to help them create spaces that truly feel like their own.
To bring this vision to life, I invited my childhood friend from New Zealand to join me. She handles our premium wool sourcing from New Zealand and provides on-site measuring and installation services for our customers. If you need professional measuring or installation in either Australia or New Zealand, please don't hesitate to reach out—we're here to help.
